Excursion Details:
  • The Calahorra tower is found at the south of the Roman Bridge, at the far end of the city centre. It is the oldest defense building in the town. In 1369 a third tower was added to the design to turn it into more of a fortress.
  • The building also houses a museum, Museo Vivo de Al-Andaluz, with a selection of artefacts, preserves and exhibits. It depicts how life was in Cordoba around the 10th Century AD when there was a blend of the three cultures Christianity, Muslim and Judaism. Audio guides are available.
  • Inside the museum is a model of the Mezquita mosque in its original state.
  • Visitors are able to go up to the roof to access a beautiful view of the Mosque and the city.
