The ultimate bespoke language trip to Bonn. You set the rules.

When this relaxed city on the Rhine became West Germany’s ‘temporary’ capital in 1949 it surprised many, including its own residents. It has a healthy economy and lively urban vibe.

For visitors, the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven has plenty of note, not least the great composer’s birth house, a string of top-rated museums, a lovely riverside setting and the nostalgic feel of the old government quarter.

Bonn has become a very attractive cultural destination and is well-known for its top exhibitions and events. The exhibitions and collections at the “Museumsmile” with “Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany”, “Art Museum Bonn” and “House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany”, “Museum Koenig” and “German Museum Bonn”, attract more than two million visitors each year.

In the city centre the “Beethoven-House”, the birthplace of Ludwig van Beethoven, is definitely a touristic “must-visit”.

The late Baroque Town House also presents itself in a wonderful way at the market place in the middle of the city, where one will find a fruit and vegetable market from Monday to Saturday, and where cafés and bistros put out their tables and chairs on sunny days. Bonn’s wide pedestrian precinct invites you for a shopping tour, and there are lots of modern malls, historic or ingenious shops, which make shopping become a pleasure. Traditional bars, breweries, wine taverns and restaurants with ethnic food or sophisticated scenery places are waiting.

School trips to Bonn: Let us take the strain.

Close to Bonn are many nearby German cities and towns, all of which have plenty to offer tourists and visitors. Neighbouring Cologne is especially near to Bonn and closely related, offering everything from shopping centres and trendy boutiques, to exceptional theatres and many historical buildings. Also just a short distance away from Bonn is northern Europe's oldest cathedral in the city of Aachen, the Siebengebirge mountain many and its unusual 120-year-old cogwheel train, the acclaimed glassworks museum in the town of Rheinbach, and the popular theme park of Phantasialand, which can be found within Bruhl, a small city with plenty of tourist appeal.

One of Germany’s oldest churches, Bonn Minster is a glorious edifice built in the 11th century over ruins of churches and temples that date from Roman times. Two Holy Roman Emperors, Charles IV and Frederick the Fair were crowned at this spot in the 14th century. There are five towers, the largest of which is octagonal, and they’re all broken with semi-circular arched windows, which are typical of the Romanesque.
